CASEnergy Brings Government and Industry Leaders Together to Discuss Nuclear Energy

On Tuesday, May 15th, 2007, in conjunction with its one-year anniversary, the CASEnergy Coalition will be hosting a lunchtime symposium entitled "The Role of Nuclear in Addressing Our Nation's Energy Challenges."

The Honorable James Clyburn (D-SC) Majority Whip of the U.S. House of Representatives will deliver the keynote address.

Both CASEnergy Co-Chairs will be attending, with opening remarks delivered by Former NJ Governor and EPA Administrator Christine Todd Whitman, and Dr. Patrick Moore, co-Founder of Greenpeace, serving as a guest speaker.

The panel discussion will be led by author and commentator Ben Wattenberg, a Senior Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute and host of "Think Tank with Ben Wattenberg" on PBS.

A diverse panel comprising representatives from labor, environmental, and manufacturing groups include:
  • Mark Brownstein, Managing Director, Business Partnerships, Environmental Defense
  • Jim Hunter, Utilities Director, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers
  • Renze Hoeksema, Director, Federal Affairs, DTE Energy
  • Keith McCoy, Vice President, Energy and Resources Policy, National Association of Manufacturers
The CASEnergy symposium will provide a venue for speakers and invited guests from the private sector, academia, and non-governmental organizations to explore the role of nuclear power today and in the future.

CASEnergy continues to spread knowledge and support for nuclear energy, to assure that organizations and individuals who share a desire for clean, reliable, safe and affordable electricity sources can unite.
