CASEnergy Coalition Reaches 600 Members

Rapid Growth Is Testament to Broad National Support for Nuclear Energy

WASHINGTON, DC, November 1, 2006 – Gov. Christine Todd Whitman and Dr. Patrick Moore, Co-Chairs of the Clean and Safe Energy Coalition (CASEnergy Coalition), announced today that Coalition membership reached 600 nationally with the enrollment of the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The CASEnergy Coalition, launched last April, unites a diverse membership around the principle of supporting the increased use of nuclear energy as a way to meet our nation’s rising electricity demands.

“Reaching the 600 membership mark is an impressive and telling achievement. We are impressed with the number and the nature of members who join CASEnergy Coalition every day from across America, recognizing that nuclear energy is a clean and safe energy resource,” said Christine Todd Whitman and Patrick Moore, in a joint statement. “We are confident that the coalition will continue to grow quickly and look forward to welcoming new members. Through our continued growth, we will be able to educate the American public about the benefits of nuclear energy and its role in meeting the nation’s energy needs both today and in the future.”

The Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce consists of businesses across Southeast Michigan. The Chamber’s mission is carried out through business attraction efforts, public policy advocacy, strategic partnerships and quality products and services for members. With more than 23,000 members, the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce is the largest regional chamber of commerce in the country.
